Developer Q&A – Game Design, Part 2

When will I be able to sell Garage slots? It would be great to have this as an option.

Such an option contradicts the game’s established economics; players can’t receive Gold from selling items they previously purchased for Gold. However, we might introduce an option for selling slots for Credits.

When will you add a “best friends” filter to the contact list? Currently, I have to check the contact list after every battle in the hope of seeing my friends online.

Social functionality is a problem for us. Currently, the game functionality doesn’t allow for the practical display of player statuses. It may seem strange, but this feature is rather complicated for our chat and contact list. In the coming year, we’ll hopefully implement some features to improve the chat and contact list.

Can you switch off the highlighting of penetration zones? I understand it’s necessary for training newbies, but the game would be much more interesting if this was off for experienced tankers battling at tiers VIIII and IX, thereby forcing them to learn armor weaknesses.

We don’t think that learning armor schemes and tracking changes to penetration zones in real time are necessary skills in battle — coordinated team play and strategic decisions are more important. Players need all the information possible in the heat of battle to make a good shot (which is not as easy with a touch screen). It’s also worth taking into account that not all players have a high skill level. I’m not sure those players would welcome your suggestion, as most of them are accustomed to the helpful highlighting of penetration zones.

I understand replays won’t be added to the game in the near future. I realize it’s not an easy task, but I do have a suggestion: a button that sends the results of an interesting battle to a player’s email address (or social media). It could contain detailed statistics, not just a screenshot to share). It would be awesome if it also contained information about destroyed vehicles (with player names) to aid in potential abusive language reports.

Thank you for the interesting suggestion. We’ll definitely consider it while working on in-game social media functionality.

Many experienced players notice the so-called “sticking” of the reticle on the landscape and different objects (stones, buildings) when trying to aim accurately. It’s pretty inconvenient, especially when you can only see a small part of the enemy’s vehicle. Is it a bug, or were these mechanics intended? Is it possible to eliminate the sticking?

We realize that this is irritating and we’re sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused you. The difficulty is that if we focus on fixing all of the minor bugs, we won’t have any time left for developing new features for the game.

Is it possible to introduce artillery strikes? This wouldn’t require the introduction of the SPG as a vehicle type — fire could automatically come from the pillboxes of each base. Fast vehicles would go scouting there and try to destroy the pillboxes. This would add something new to the gameplay.

We’re currently working on adding this type of vehicle, but it’s too early to say how and when it’ll appear in the game. I’ll provide more information when we have a clearer idea about the mechanics of this idea.

It would be great if you introduced a feature that displayed armor zones on a vehicle in the Garage, so that players have a better understanding of their vehicle’s strongest and most vulnerable areas.

We’ve discussed this feature multiple times, but always opted for more important features. I’m sure it will be introduced — perhaps when we rework the display of vehicle characteristics in the Garage.

Why can’t I play as a tier VIII or X vehicle in a Platoon but I am if I’m playing solo? For example, I select a tier VIII vehicle and get into a battle with tier X vehicles. Yet when I want to play with a tier X vehicle in a Platoon and my Platoon mate is in a tier VIII vehicle, an error says our vehicle tiers don’t match.

This comes from the lower level vehicles, where tier III and V are prevented from playing against tier V, as a tier III would be outmatched. We do need to rework this considering the high tiers, but currently, in most Platoons the vehicles only differ by one tier, and this fix was postponed. Still, it’s a great question, and we’ll work towards solving the problem.

Are there plans to introduce the IS-2 and IS-5?

We plan to introduce these vehicles, but it’s hard to estimate exactly when they’ll arrive.
