May 9, 1945 troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front during the Prague operation entered the capital of Czechoslovakia – Prague. The first city in the early morning of May 9 entered the Soviet troops under the command of Major-General Ivan Ziberova armored forces. The troops who participated in the battles for the liberation of Prague, the order of the Supreme Commander of the 9 May 1945 commendation in Moscow salute was fired 24 artillery salvoes from 324 guns. Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on 9 June 1945 has established a medal “For the liberation of Prague.”
