Update 2.6 is coming soon and brings a brand-new branch of the German tech tree: light tanks. Some of these, like the Pz.Kpfw. II Luchs and Spähpanzer Ru 251, have been eagerly anticipated and we’re pleased to add a new line for players who enjoy scouting and hit-and-run tactics!

Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. G
Tier III

The new light tank line begins with the Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. G, a highly maneuverable tank that can brag about exceptional speed and unparalleled radio range in its tier. Light tanks aren’t known for their firepower, but the final gun on this one boasts fantastic penetration!

Battlefield Recon: Take advantage of the Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. G’s speed and radio range to keep tabs on the enemy and share their location with your teammates.

Pz.Kpfw. II Luchs
Tier IV

There’s a lot to like about the Luchs—speed, base camouflage value, and view range are just some of its more appealing characteristics. Upgrade its gun to the 3cm autocannon to add some firepower to an already sneaky tier IV tank.

Battlefield Recon: Improve the Luchs’ base camo value by adding adding some proper camouflage. This will allow you to spot the enemy before they spot you.

VK 16.02 Leopard
Tier V

The Leopard’s good radio and view range help make it a good scout, but it boasts impressive characteristics in other areas as well. For example, the armor is great for a tier V scout, with the same amount of hull armor as the M4 Sherman. When fully upgraded, the Leopard can turn on a dime, meaning that it’s almost as nimble as its animal namesake.

Battlefield Recon: The Leopard can mount the same 3cm autocannon as the Luchs. Equip that and you’ll make life miserable for tier IV tanks, but don’t expect to go toe-to-toe with tier V medium or heavy tanks.

VK 28.01
Tier VI

The VK 28.01 is big for a light tank, but that heft also means it makes for a decent ramming tank in case typical scouting tactics aren’t for you. On the other hand, with a massive view range you’ll be able to keep eyes on enemy movement and your gun can easily take out lightly-armored vehicles.

Battlefield Recon: Ram your enemies. You know you want to.

Spähpanzer SP I C
Tier VII

Scouting is a cinch for the Spähpanzer thanks to its small size, good base camouflage value and view range. Good penetration, damage, and the ability to use an autoloader means it can also pack a punch. Speedy, sneaky, and deadly? That’s Supäh.

Battlefield Recon: Keep out of sight of enemy tankers and use your gun to hit ’em where it hurts.

Spähpanzer Ru 251

Speed that’s worthy of the fast lane on the Autobahn should put this light tank on everyone’s wish list, but there’s even more to love with the Ru 251, like lots of damage-dealing potential and quick aim time. Light armor means you’ll need to take advantage of your speed to avoid being hit, but if you’re the kind of player that feels the need for speed, the Ru 251 is for you!

Battlefield Recon: Speed is your biggest asset in the Ru 251, so stay fast and furious on the battlefield and keep moving if you’re spotted!
