October 16, 1904 was born one of the most talented designers of the USSR Alexander Morozov. He lived for 75 years, and nearly two-thirds of his life to the tanks. Alexander Morozov was born October 16, 1904 in the village of Bezhitsa, which is now located in the city of Bryansk. After finishing school (educational institution in which the main role was played by science and mathematics) worked at the Kharkov Locomotive Works. Was a clerk, draftsman, copyist. From 1926 to 1928 he served in the Army aviation mechanic technician.

From 1928, he worked as a designer at the Kharkiv Locomotive Works. It should be noted that this enterprise, despite the “peaceful” name was actually one of the key Soviet factories engaged in production of military vehicles, including tanks.

After graduating in 1931, Engineering College, Morozov became head groups in the design office of the plant, and in 1936 – the head of the sector. In 1938 he was appointed deputy chief designer.

In the pre-war period has been involved in the development of the T-24 and a series of wheel-tracked vehicles BT. Together with Mikhail Koshkin and Nikolai Kucherenko worked on the future “workhorse” of the Red Army armored forces – medium tank T-34.

After the death of Koshkin in late 1940, Morozov became the chief designer KB Kharkov plant. In 1941 the factory was evacuated to Nizhny Tagil. Under the leadership of Alexander Morozov were working on the T-43, T 34-85, T-44, T-54.

After the war, Alexander Morozov created such famous fighting vehicles, as the T-55, T- 64 and T-64A.

For the development of a medium tank T-54 Alexander Morozov was the third time the USSR State Prize. Twice he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. Was twice the winner of the Stalin Prize, 1st degree. In 1972, Alexander Morozov received a doctorate in technical sciences.
